PUBLICATION: Finding New MOFs

During my stay in Kaust, I directed my master student Emilie on an interesting project, looking for novel highly connected nets. Unfortunately master internships don’t last forever and the project stayed in standby until my friend Zhijie Chen gave it a second breath. An amazing one. I am really impressed by the achievements here.

This is structure design, period.

Publication: Switching between hydrophobicity and hydrophylicity in MOFs

My colleague and great friend Dra. Sabina Rodriguez signed a great contribution on a tricky topic studying the post synthetic modifications that can be performed to affect one of the crucial properties of MOFs: Their water resistance. I am glad I was given the chance to be part of it. These unprecedented findings have been published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition.

Publication: CO2/N2 selectivity in amide containing MOFs

Through a fruitful collaboration with the Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran, initiated by my friend Dr. Vahid Safarifard, we investigated the separation potential of some novel amide functionalised MOFs. This work has been published in Crystal Growth & Design.

Publication: Mechanical properties of functionalized flexible MOFs

Five years and a half after I defended my PhD, this is probably the last publication coming out from the multiple collaborations I had during my stay in Versailles…
And it’s a pretty interesting one, about the effect of ligand functionalization on  mechanical properties of flexible MIL-53 type MOFs.

Publication: CO2 capture review in Chem. Eng. J.

The third review I contributed to during my time in Kaust is finally available online, published in Chemical Engineering Journal. This time, it is not dealing on materials design, but on CO2 capture from low concentration mixtures. I believe this article written with all the expertise and conviction of my friend and ex colleague Dr. Youssef Belmabkhout will help people understanding more the little details driving the CO2 sorption properties and making one material random, interesting, or even suitable for industrial use…

Publication: anisotropic chemical etching of MOFs

First publication from my new position in Barcelona !

The amazing etching of zeolite-like MOFs into various shapes achieved by my colleagues Civan and Xavi has just been accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie, one of the best scientific journal for research in general chemistry.

Award: Juan de la Cierva and Beatriú de Pinos Fellowships

When I arrived to my new lab in Barcelona, my boss suggested that I should apply for some fellowships.

I followed his advises and we submitted two applications for fellowships.

I recently got the results, and incredible news, my two applications have been selected. Even better, I am ranked first in Chemistry for the Juan de la Cierva fellowship.
